Avoid the scams, find out which Business Opportunities actually work

Recently I received an email from a subscriber asking about Andy Shaw’s property related business opportunity.

It read:

“My interest has been aroused by all the din going on about the subject matter. Just checking what your honourable view is on this chap.. His book on ‘PROPERTY’ is apparently selling for £20.

Will it be DEAL or NO DEAL?”

Like probably a lot of people who have ever subscribed to a biz opps email list, I received several emails about Andy Shaw’s book over the last week.

He managed to get a lot of people to joint venture with him and promote this opportunity

(I have a suspicion that he went to a seminar – could’ve been Steve Foley’s UK Internet Entrepreneur Conference – and mingled with loads of other entrepreneurs. Seminars are an absolutely brilliant place to organise JVs)

The sales letter interested me so I sent off for the book which was priced at a reasonable £20 + P&P.

Now, Andy has very cleverly set up a range of upsells, cross-sells and back-ends to this very reasonably priced book. The first one you are offered is a discount on membership to his website.

Usually £40 + VAT per month, you are offered access for a full year at a considerable discount.

However, with the book you do get 60 days’ free access to the site so you can see whether it is for you.

I’ve only had a quick look around the site but it seems to be quite good, it’s well designed with a lot of information. The forum seems to be quite busy and Andy is also ever-present there answering questions and giving tips on all kinds of subjects.

When you pay for the book, you actually sign up for the membership site too so please be aware of this!

Basically, if you do not want to stay as a member, you must email to say that you want to cancel your membership and you will not be charged. You need to do this within 60 days of ordering.

But what about the book?

Well, I received this quickly and I was very impressed with it. It oozes professionalism with its slick design.

I guess I’m so used to buying eBooks that I am overly happy that Andy has actually had his system published as a “real book”.

And it’s not a quick read. It runs to well over 400 pages so I’m afraid it’s going to be a while before I can give an opinion on the content.

I read the first 40 pages or so on the train this morning. Andy sets the scene by describing just how he started in the property game and how he pretty much went crazy buying up loads of properties in a very short space of time.

Give me a couple of weeks and I will let you know more but first impressions were good and I get the feeling this will be a great read for anyone interested in property investing (that’d be the vast majority of adults then!)

One subscriber to the free business opportunity email newsletter opened a support ticket asking about the Ultimate Wealth Package:

“The “Ultimate Wealth Package” by Mark Warren tries to get you to buy their program for $50.00 online, with the promise of all the following:

– A FREE Turn Key website all set up to make you money
– Will help you with Creating Multiple Streams of Residual Income
– Earn a full time income from home working on your computer
– Step by step guide to making thousands of dollars weekly on the Internet
– Become Debt Free etc

All for only $50.00 Could you tell me anything you know about this program?

Thank you, Shawna”

I’ve never been impressed by websites like this and so I sent the following reply:

“Hi Shawna,

Personally, I wouldn’t bother with this package.

The ‘free’ website is not particularly brilliant and certainly not ‘worth $1097’.

In short, the package will involve endless expenditure and mostly involves actually promoting the Ultimate Wealth Package to other people for commission.

Thanks,

Ben”

However, I am happy to be proven wrong about this one so if you have had any success with it, please do let me know…

The easiest way to let me know how you have done with the Ultimate Wealth Package is to leave a comment on this blog.

Well, I’ve now had 12 issues of Oliver’s monthly printed newsletter and I have had time to sit down and write a short review of it.

I will be honest and say that I haven’t renewed my subscription.

This is nothing to do the quality of information supplied – that is absolutely fine – it’s more to do with the direction my eBay trading is taking

As you may know, I signed up for Alex Jeffreys’ membership site some time ago after speaking to him at a seminar.

I like the way Alex goes about profiting from eBay and his product is a lifetime membership so there is no extra expense each year.

Still, this is about Mr Goehler so if you would like to know more about the newsletter, please take a look at the review I have put on the site:

If you’ve been a subscriber to the eBay Kommando newsletter, what did you think? Has it made you any money?

Well, I rang Bob Rothman’s tipster hotline on Saturday and got the bet. It seems that several other people did too as I got a flurry of emails about it. And the tip won!

Email 1:

“Seeing you mention Bob Rothman brings back bad memorys, I was with his betting service some 7yrs ago and he still sends out the same sort of letter and you got bets by ringing the line just before the race to get a good price and the cost to you was that you put £30 on for him and sent him the winnings minus the £30 stake, he never had a winner from 12 bets that I took he was $%^&*()x useless and a !£$%^^& *&^%$£@! so I suggest you watch this one with caution…”

Email 2:

“checked out bob rothman – horse given was witchita lineman – put £10 on it when i saw who the jockey was.was basically a 2 horse race – odds were evens and second in betting was 5/2 or 11/4 at one point. McCoy does not get on a horse expecting to lose. thanks !”

Email 3:

“A big thank you for producing BizOpps which I look forward to receiving.

I too heard from Rothman Racing. I watched the race on satellite and it was exciting as their tip, number 3, Witchata Lineman duly WON! The horse was lying 5th for most of the race but was expertly ridden and came on really strong at the end and won by several lengths.

Incidentally I should mention that the race was on a specialist channel which allowed me to watch just the one race but then said I would have to subscribe to see more. I would think that this would have to be an additional “business expense” that potential “investors” would have to consider making because it added so much to the fun factor.

I understand this horse was the favourite and the odds were even but Bob placed £200 to win and you can’t argue with the fact that the guy made £200.

My partner and I are looking forward to the promised follow up from Rothman Racing and will be pleased to consider their offer. Clearly Bob is not going to win every time but there are real attractions to a fun form of money making where you do not have the bother of having to declare or give 40% away to Gordon Brown.

Keep up the good work.”

Thanks for all the emails!

Personally I am happy I made a little profit from Mr Rothman’s racing tip but I won’t be going any further with it… Not for me…
